Good News For Electric Taxis? Nissan Leaf, Got An Upgrade This Week, Unveiling A European Range Of 235 Miles

The world's best selling electric car, the Nissan Leaf, got an upgrade this week

Unveiling a European range of 235 miles on a single battery charge, and new self driving features such as assisted parking.

This really will pour water onto the London Electric Vehicle Company (LEVC) TX plug in replacement of the TX4, with its limited 70 mile range.

The question now is, will this new technology bring the Nissan e-NV200 Taxi Of Tomorrow -which is based on the Nissan Leaf model- back into the equation for the London market, when new rules come into force in January next year?

Only electric Taxis capable of near zero emissions, qwill be licensed by TfL.

What The Taxi Trade Really Feel About Leon Daniels : 97% Want Him Sacked. ... By Laurence Green

A few home truths need to be hammered home regarding the resignation of Leon Daniels and the outrageous claims made by Mike Brown TFL - Mike Brown claims Leon Daniels:

“Our progress under his leadership has been considerable. This includes building a bus service that is the envy of all world cities, laying firm foundations for radical change in walking and cycling and helping focus us on improving road safety and air quality to help secure our city's future.”

Mike Brown must be teleported Star Trek style directly from his home to his office, because he is totally oblivious to the abject carnage Leon Daniels has caused to London’s road traffic systems.

London is certainly not the envy of the World when it comes to commuting; most passengers I speak to tell me they detest travelling on public transport as it is a unsavoury, uncomfortable experience!

London’s buses are so inefficient at negotiating their way through London due to the CSH, it is quicker to walk than take a bus - many commuters choose to cycle rather than suffer the daily purgatory of being crammed into trains and buses with standing room only while the bus sits in TFL's self made traffic mayhem.
This is what Mike Brown describes as progress!!!!

Central London's traffic pollution is on record as dropping by 50% during a bus drivers strike, which goes to prove that buses are a significant contributor to London's pollution problem - this coupled with the gross mismanagement of the capitals road management systems are the real reason for rising air pollution and the health issues associated with it.

It beggars belief Mike Brown has the audacity to credit Leon Daniels with improving road safety; the appalling statistics of bus collisions, fatalities and reckless operation by bus drivers is unprecedented – not to mention TFL's reckless abandonment towards their duty to protect the general publics safety by the turning of a blind eye to the appalling everyday road traffic collisions and reckless driving by Uber partners.

Brown goes on to say:

“I am very grateful for the advice and support he has given me”

Leon Daniels made false representation when questioned by the GLA by saying Uber drivers have ON/OFF insurance cover while operating on the Uber platform - He was also exposed coaching senior Uber executives how to word correspondence, in order to side step legislation.

In reality, TFL has desperately tried to ride on the back of the reputation London Taxi drivers have as being the best in the World. If anything Leon Daniels and Co have reduced London’s road network to the standard of a Third Word City in a failed attempt to run a bus network.

IN MY OPINION, THAT'S FAILURE, NOT PROGRESS!

All in two days: Sadiq Khan goes on LBC to reassure everyone it will ultimately be senior individuals at TFL who make the decision to re license Uber, thus letting himself off the hook when Uber get re-licensed. He claims it has nothing to do with him in his capacity as mayor - yet he contradicted himself in the LBC interview by saying, "Uber was licensed by his predecessor Boris Johnson!"

The following day, Mike Brown releases a statement revealing Leon Daniels will be standing down from his position at TFL.
He is to ride off into the sunset with his pot of gold, leaving a trail of disaster behind him in his wake - Far from the glowing praise Brown lavished on Daniels for his input in transforming London's road network of buses, cycles etc to be the envy of the world (Absolute FARCICAL Bullshit)

The newly formed New United Trade Group (NUT GROUP) attend Palestra to be spoon fed reassurances by Helen Chapman, that she can guarantee 13000 PH drivers CRB/DBS checks will come back "Fit and Proper" so she grants the 13000 drivers a 28 day amnesty to re apply for the advanced DBS checks that are mandatory for Licensed Taxi drivers - Yet she doesn't have the same confidence in Licensed Taxi drivers to grant licence extensions to existing licenses, as she wouldn't be able to sleep at night if an incident should occur involving the general public's safety in this period - regardless of the fact that the vast majority of London cab drivers backgrounds can be checked back as far as their fathers scrotal sacks.

Taxify are issued a written warning from TFL to cease operating immediately; which they comply with - Yet Uber are allowed to continue operating on a license extension to their existing license which was issued illegally by TFL - regardless of there being a mountain of crime statistics of serious criminal activity by Uber drivers and daily main stream media reports exposing serious improprieties of the Uber company and its operations.

Honestly, I'm convinced more than ever that Narnia actually exists and the people that run TFL were trained for their jobs there!

OFF THE WALL and DOUBLE STANDARD comes to mind!

Going, Going, Going .... But Still Hanging Around Like A Bad Smell.

In a Taxi Leaks recent poll, 97% of drivers taking part agreed that Leon Daniels should be sack over TfLs recent poor and inadequate performance.

News broke this afternoon that Daniels is at last to go, but unfortunately, not till the end of the year.
Utter rubbish (as we've come to expect) from Mike Brown.

Under Daniels directorship we've seen the licensing of an illegal app that he and his colleagues have bent over backwards to protect. Relaxing legislation laid down by parliament in order to protect a company that pays little to no Tax/VAT in this country.

Under his directorship we've also seen an unprecedented rises in rapes an sexual assaults from one Private Hire operator on passengers. Last year, we saw a 50% increase from uber drivers alone.

More recently, it's emerged that under his directorship, 13,000 PHV drivers were allowed to carry on regardless for 7 months after they submitted dodgy DBS certificates.

This is also the TfL director who openly lied twice to the transport committee of the GLA in respect of Uber drivers mythical on/off insurance (doesn't exist) and Uber's Landline, which turned out to be the CEO of Uber's personal phone number.

The word from the Taxi trade to Leon
"Why wait till the end of the year....go now".

Uber is under FBI investigation over software it used to track Lyft drivers

After Just Three Days, Taxify Call Halt To Operations Following TfL Investigation

When you're a ride-hailing company, a lot can happen in a week. Just three days after it brought its private hire app to London, Taxify has suspended all rides as it seeks to clarify its standing with the capital's transport authority. Transport for London confirmed yesterday that it was "urgently investigating" the Uber rival because it isn't a "licensed private hire operator" and was performing its services without the necessary clearance.

While Taxify doesn't hold a licence itself, CEO Markus Villig told media that the company operates as a "technology platform," which sources rides for an existing ride-hailing operator called City Drive Services. Taxify purchased City Drive Services, allowing it to piggyback on the London-based firm's licence (which expires in 2019).

In a statement, Taxify said it had accumulated over 30,000 customers and added 3,000 drivers since it launched, adding: "Taxify is a technological platform for customers to hail rides from City Drive Services, a licensed London based private hire company. This has been raised as a concern by TfL and in full cooperation, Taxify have temporarily stopped operations to clarify its legal position with the regulator and reach a resolution so that services can return to normal."

"TfL have a responsibility to Londoners to make sure there is a competitive ride-hailing market in the capital that strengthens incentives for operators to improve quality and safety while also bringing the overall cost down for customers. Taxify's model does just this having achieved significant breakthroughs in over 19 markets around the world, and we look forward to an open and transparent dialogue with TfL in the coming days to resolve this."

In a letter to Transport for London and London's deputy mayor for transport, GMB union secretary Steve Garelick called Taxify's acquisition tactics into question, noting that the company's decision not to advise TfL of a change to licencing conditions appeared "incompatible with the law."

It's now Transport for London's job to identify whether Taxify's decision to trade under a subsidiary's licence is against the rules, which could see the company keep its drivers off the road indefinitely.

And Finally...Word From The Trade's Meeting With TfL and Mike Brown .

This from Grant Davis, Chair of the London Taxi Drivers Club:
Yesterday's meeting with Mike Brown started with the 13k PH drivers who have been asked to re take their DBS - I asked Helen Chapman & Mike Brown to suspend them until retested, this fell on deaf ears.
I stated I had members who had suffered and if anything the PH drivers should face the same.

This was refuted.

Today on LBC the Mayor stated they had not supplied an "enhanced CRB" not good.
Ms Chapman told us she would guarantee that every PH driver retested would pass.
Which I found extraordinary.
(Can you see something wrong with this picture???)

We complained about Compliance and the heavy handed approach.
We told them we were being unfairly treated and they needed to come back under TPH.

We spoke about the promised bus lane access... Shorter St, Byward St, Euston underpass and were told we faced opposition within Tfl from the buses.
(Can you see something wrong with this picture???)

Steve Mc spoke of Bank Junction traffic and that figures used by CoL were flawed - we also put forward a case for us to us Tottenham Court Road due to flawed figures.
We also showed we had support from the public, retailers and that the only opposition was Camden.

We spoke about charge points ( or lack of them ) there is only 1 at present and that don't work.
(Can you see something wrong with this picture???)

Tfl are promising 75 before Xmas, but I will be very surprised if they achieve half that .

I brought up that TfL wanted us to have a 10 yr age limit due to the electric cabs and how plentiful the infrastructure world be, total codswallop.

Thank God we got 15 from Boris.

Again, we told Tfl "you cannot make policy on promises".

Not much was mentioned about Uber relicense, or not , but that was expected.

We also debated the lack of "e- hailing" policy by Tfl and I spoke of our efforts in Brighton.

If Tfl had a policy in place and they stated all apps were ASAP bookings, we would have no problems
